Valve repair is the call when one station does nothing, or when a zone runs after the clock has moved on. In Grapevine the box is often the hard part. St. Augustine and mulch bury green lids, and clay heave lifts them out of grade so the mower clips the corner.
Stuck open or stuck closed
A valve stuck open floods one zone and can keep the meter moving overnight. A valve that will not open leaves that station dry while the others look fine. We open the box, check the solenoid, the diaphragm, and the bleed. Debris from a main-line break upstream is a common reason a Grapevine valve fails in July, after someone has already replaced the same solenoid once.
Wiring is checked at the valve and at the controller if the solenoid is good and the station still will not call. Older downtown systems sometimes share a wire path that a landscape crew nicked. We do not replace the clock because one station is dead.
The box after the repair
The lid goes back to grade so it can be found next time. If the manifold is cracked, that is a different repair from a solenoid, and we say so before the pipes come apart. Valves we warrant in writing stay with the work order, not as a slogan on the homepage.
If a zone will not shut off tonight, call (469) 294-8444. Shut the water at the backflow if water is leaving the yard, and tell us you did. We will bring a valve that matches what is in the box when we can see the brand, and a common replacement when we cannot.
