Sprinkler head repair in Grapevine

A broken sprinkler head in Grapevine wastes more water than a short zone. The city treats a system with a broken or missing head as an offense, and a head that geysers will also carve a hole in Bermuda before you notice the bill.

What usually broke

Mowers take the cap off heads that have sunk. Edgers along downtown sidewalks shear the riser. Lake-wind yards lean heads toward the street until the stream hits the curb. Clay shrinks in August, the soil pulls away from the body, and the head tilts. St. Augustine in a shaded side yard can swallow a head until only a wet circle shows where it should pop.

We replace the head and set the height so the mower clears it. The nozzle is matched to the zone: a strip along a fence is not the same nozzle as an open front lawn. If the head was fed by a cracked funny pipe, that swing joint is replaced too. Leaving the old funny pipe is how the new head blows off on the next cycle.

When a head is not the problem

Low pressure on every head in one zone is often the valve or a leak in the lateral, not six bad nozzles. We run the zone before we sell a bag of heads. If only the last head is a dribble, we look for a crushed pipe under a new fence or a tree root near Grapevine’s older live oaks.

After the heads are in, we run the zone and reset any arc that wets the sidewalk. Call (469) 294-8444 and say how many heads you can see failing. A single head on a corner is a short visit. A zone of sunk heads across a large north Grapevine lot is a longer one.
