Backflow testing in Grapevine

The brass device on the side of a Grapevine house is the irrigation backflow preventer. It keeps yard water from moving back toward the drinking supply. Grapevine’s irrigation rules require backflow protection, along with a rain and freeze sensor. A test is its own appointment. It is not something we finish in the last five minutes of a head repair.

What the test is

A licensed tester hooks gauges to the device, records the readings, and files the report the way the city expects. If the device fails, the repair might be a rubber, a check, or a replacement assembly. We will say which one before the device comes off the wall. Rebuilding a failed unit and replacing it are different prices.

Heads, valves, and leaks can be booked the same day if you want them looked at while we are there. They are still separate work. A passing test does not mean the third zone is fine.

When to book

Book the test when the city or your water account asks for it, when you have never had one on a house you just bought, or when the device was opened for a winter drain and you want it checked in spring. Do not paint or bury the device before the test. We need the test cocks clear.

Call (469) 294-8444 and say backflow. Have the address ready. The device’s location, front corner or side gate, saves time on the ladder and the gauges.
